The Ministry of Education has announced the latest phase of the University Social Responsibility (USR) Practice Project. Our university has had two projects approved and has received additional institutional support funding, totaling NT$10,600,000 in grant subsidies.
The approved projects are as follows: Associate Professor Dr. Yen-Fu Chen's "Cooperation and Empowerment - Applying Citizen Design Science to Community Learning and Field Practice" (University Distinctive Category, Seedling Type), and Vice President Dr. Chih-Fu Wu, Associate Professor Dr. Yi-Chun Lee, and Associate Professor Dr. Jun-long Ji 's "Sustainable Co-prosperity in Tatung: Value-added Project of Quality Education and Cross-domain Practice in Differential Group Service Bases" (University Distinctive Category, In-depth Type). Additionally, the USR-Hub project has also received institutional support.
Dr.Chen's project involves collaboration with Mr. Si-Ru Wu, the CEO of Vision Union Company, and aims to engage more faculty and students in community development, social design, and resident interaction, thereby expanding participation in university social responsibility practices. Vice President Wu, Director Lee, and Deputy Director Ji's "Differential Group Service" project leverages our university's strengths in interdisciplinary collaboration, practical abilities, and problem-solving to create suitable sports assistive devices and facility environments for students from three schools in Taipei City: Taipei school for the visually impaired, Taipei school for the hearing impaired, and Taipei municipal School of special education. This project aims to achieve talent cultivation and provide services to diverse groups.
In addition to the approved in-depth and seedling projects, the teachers who proposed these projects, such as Dr. Chen and Dr. Lee, are participants in the "Ministry of Education Interdisciplinary Teacher Development and Talent Cultivation Program." They have planned multiple "Design Thinking X Cross-domain Practice" workshops to link resources and gather industry teachers, cross-school alliance partners, high school teachers, and students to collectively practice university social responsibility. Through the integration of project-oriented initiatives, they have received subsidies from the Ministry of Education.
