The coolest college major - Mechanical Materials World is where everything can come to life beyond imagination!" The most rewarding experience for students in the Mechanical Materials Engineering program is the ability to "create and animate" everything. Courses such as "Mechatronic Design" and "Introduction to Mechanical Engineering" enable students to build electric motorcycles, basketball shooting machines, etc. Using programming, electronics, and communication, students can control a car or a machine, which is the starting point for creativity and innovation.
In addition to courses, internships and practical training are great opportunities for students in the Mechanical Materials Engineering program to showcase their skills. The Kinmen Bridge, which opened in 2022, was built by a team of Mechanical Materials Engineering students, who custom-designed a "climbing vehicle" to exam the bridge safety. Moreover, a cross-departmental research team combining mechanical engineering, design, and electronics is working with the Institute of Transportation to upgrade the method of inspecting bridges' undersides.
There is a high demand for mechanical engineer, and companies are eager to recruit students before they graduate. For example, Wistron NeWeb Corporation offers internships every year and collaborates with TTU. In addition to internship stipends, interns also participate in the company's team operations, providing a more complete process to train engineers, ensuring employment opportunities upon graduation. The school encourages students to participate in practical training and internships, which are the best opportunities to test their skills.
"Every industry is related to machinery, manufacturing, and materials." Dr. Lin, Chen-Kuang, professor in the Mechanical Materials Engineering program, used the semiconductor industry as an example. Without mechanical manufacturing, there would be no packaging or crystal growth processes. "How do machines work?" Dr. Wu, Hsi-Chin said, "Everything we see is related to materials, and 'materials' are the magic that makes the world shine and constantly change. You will fall in love with the material world." Dr. Yeh, Long-Jyi, former director of the Creation Education Center, believes that smart manufacturing and traditional industries are both excellent choices. He encourages graduates to work for large multinational companies while reminding them not to underestimate the traditional manufacturing industry, as "many traditional industries have a significant contribution to society and have a broad stage." The country's mask team during the pandemic is an example.
