Voltronic Power Technology Corp., Pegatron Corporation, Shanshui Livestock, Body Organ Biomedical Corporation., Hong Ming Enterprise Co. and Eclat Textile Co..etc. These companies, some of which are well-known, while others are hidden champions among Taiwan's small and medium-sized enterprises, span various industries such as technology, food and beverage, clothing, and agriculture. They are not only important players in Taiwan but also worldwide. What they have in common is that their founders all graduated from the Department of Business Management, Tatung University.
This highlights that students of the Department of Business Management not only have a solid foundation in production, marketing, human resources, and accounting, but also extend their expertise to various fields and assume great responsibilities, leaving footprints around the world as top performers in their field.
According to the department chair, Dr. Wang, Chia-Chi, the curriculum design of "practical participation, language proficiency, internationalization, and cross-disciplinary" aims to prevent students from being confined to a particular area, especially in the AI era where knowledge, awareness of social issues, and problem-solving skills are critical. In addition to professional courses and English and Japanese language courses, the Department of Business Management requires students to take a course related to "programming design" and "know at least the concepts and logic of programming."
"This is a unique environment for students of Tatung University." Both business and information management are run in the College of Management, and it is relatively easy for students to obtain resources. In addition, students are encouraged to take the course "Social Design" as early as their freshman year, in which students from various departments participate together, to cultivate the vision of business managers from the beginning.
The Department of Business Management encourages students to step out of campus, as there are many resources for dual degrees, studying abroad, and short-term exchanges. More than 30% of graduate students have obtained a dual master's degree from Tatung University and the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
