Alumni of the Department of Media Design won the gold award of the A’DESIGN AWARD & COMPETITION
The A’Design Award and Competition, is one of the World’s largest showcases for designers across the world to show their works. Mr Mu-Yi Chi, Mr Chien-Ming Lo, and Mr Jin-Wei Chang are alumni of the Department of Media Design at Tatung University. Their work “Want Some Ice Cream” is an award-winning 3D animation in A’Design Award & Competition (2018) and Red Dot Award (2017). The animation is a story about a little girl who was asked “Wanna have some ice cream ?” but she hesitated about deciding “to have it or not to have it”. The visual effects and transitions are quite impressive. Mr Mu-Yi Chi is an experienced award-winning animator. Mr Chi and Ms Yi-Sin Lin co-produced an animation film, namely “Meet, or Not”, which was awarded the Red Dot: Junior Prize in 2016.
The Tatung University alumni have made outstanding performances in the design industry over the past decade. Mr Chang-Chi Shih (BDes2012) has received numerous awards while he was studying at the university, including the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), Red Dot Design Award, and iF Design Award. He is now the founder of COZU Design as well as a lecturer at Tatung University. In addition, Mr Ta-Chih Lin (BDes2013) now works as an assistant manager at Freeimage Design. During his undergraduate studies, he worked with his coursemate Mr Yi-Fan Hsieh to create products, namely “Finger Contact” and “Ching Chair”. They were the winner of iF Design Award for two consecutive years(2012,2013) as well as the Red Dot: Best of the Best (2013). In the same year, Mr Chih-Teng Ke(BDes2012) was nominated for the Red Dot Design Award with his two works"Zipper Lock" and "MAJAN", he is now working as a designer.
Dr. Chih-Fu Wu, the vice president of Tatung University/the Dean of College of Design said that having social awareness, humanistic concerns, problem-solving skills, and decision making strategy are the fundamental to fostering designers.
